POLYHOUSE-

            The need to protect the crops against unfavourable environmental condition for optimum production and commercial viability led to the devlopment of protected agriculture. Israel and Holland are pioneers in the devlopment of this technology. Greenhouse is the most practical method of achieving the objectives of protected agriculture,where the natural environment is modified by using sound engineering principles to achieve optimum plant growth and yield.
               

             College of Agricultural Biotechnology ,Loni set up a polyhouse for Gerbera cultivation with the following objectives:

        i) Technical know how to the students and farmers of Pravara and adjacent area 
         ii)   Commercial production and marketing of flowers for addtional revenue generation.              

The area of 560 M² covers eight varieties of gerbera namely Esmara, Debora, Martinque, Popov, Viviane, Heatwave, Benesa, Yanara totaling 3200 plants.
