Department is having well equipped Plant Tissue Culture laboratory and other facility to deal with the biotechnological aspects. Department work for the Human Resource Development in the Agricultural sector.

To day the world is facing food scarcity, to meet these demands the plant biotechnology Department will work for the Development of Transgenic plants and improve the quality and yield of the various crop plants.

Now a days the various plants of  important medicinal value, are become endangered, for the conservation of these plants department will micro propagate the plants and do available for the farmers for cultivation. Also the disease free micro propagation of different commercial crops like Sugarcane and Banana and made available to the farmers at low costs throughout the year.
